Looks like google are wanting to be that global way to allow users to pay for an ad free experience. Will probably succeed where others have failed just due to the sheer size & the fact people feel secure giving google payment info rather than giving it to the Yorkshire Evening Post or some other news provider whose security budget it “get the work experience person to do it”
