I just came across this article Khronos Reveals Vulkan API for High-efficiency Graphics and Compute on GPUs It sounds like the replacement for OpenGL. Now, not really knowing much of anything about it, I ask, is this something to be excited about?
It depends, GPUs process in parallel which is necessary for images and video. There are special cases where parallel processing is faster but those cases are small enough to where the common CPU doesn’t need to process in parallel.
I’m waiting for Mesa people to read the specs and digest to the point of “get exited or ignore”.
