I cannot help but to wonder just how much money changed hands here for Disney to get their way.
Many years ago, over 30, there was a fast food place in the Black Country, part of the UK West Midlands called:
Ken Tuck he fried chicken owned by a Mr Kenneth Tuck: they were forced to change their name by some US fast food franchise so while I do not agree with this ruling I can’t say I’m surprised by it.
Me, pretty much. The fancy dress people are making money off someone else’s property. Renting out Darth Vader costumes is fine. Calling yourself “Star Wars” while doing it is, in my opinion, not fine; that they’ve got away with it for a decade doesn’t change that.
This is nothing new. Adam Curry had problems with MTV when he, with initial blessings from MTV, set up mtv.com.

It is all idiocy from my view. Anyone wanting to find information about the latest Star Wars movie goes to starwars.uk and sees costumes, are we to assume that individual is so stupid to not look elsewhere to find info about the movie?
Edit: However, I do question the motives of the company, Abscissa, in this instance by grabbing up so many ‘starwars’ domains. It makes me wonder if they were hoping to sell the domains to first, Lucas, then later, Disney and make a handy profit off of it all. If that is the case, I don’t feel the least bit sorry for them.
Blackball is a (very) small town in the middle of nowhere in the South Island of New Zealand. Probably best known for its old pub/hotel. In the 90s, as a bit of a joke, the hotel was named the “Blackball Hilton”. If you ever go to Blackball you’d understand why this is funny.
A certain overseas hotel chain apparently protested, so the name was quickly changed to “Formerly the Blackball Hilton”
